Scientific Programme
The LIA “ROPSE” Convention refers to the realization of a scientific programme. The implementation of this program is based on close collaboration between the teams involved from the UCA and the CSM, within their various departments. It applies to three axes:
- Marine Biology Axis
-
The Marine Biology Axis focuses on the “stress responses of marine organisms” and their “adaptation to global changes” with a multi-scale approach from genes to populations. These themes are broken down into three parts:
- Study of response to environmental disturbances of direct anthropogenic origin (such as chemical pollution)
- Study of processes of adaptation to the environment and to climate change
- Development of innovative methodologies (genetic engineering tools, mathematical analysis tools, statistical models and artificial intelligence).
- Medical Axis
-
The Medical Biology Axis focuses on bioactive molecules from marine environments. The study of these molecules aims to strengthen the fight against inflammatory, infectious and cancerous pathologies, and even those related to aging. These themes will be broken down into three parts:
- Isolation and structural characterization of compounds extracted from marine organisms and their classification into major families
- Synthesis by conventional chemical approaches or by biological approaches respecting the standards of “green” chemistry
- Identify new anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory or antibiotic molecules.
- Human Sciences and Society Axis
-
The Human Sciences and Society Axis studies the following themes with a view to sustainable development and the adaptation of human populations to climate change:
- Studies at the land/sea interface
- Law of the sea
- Waste management
- Blue economy
- Energetic transition
- Migration and tourism.
